Guild in the Community
The Guild since it's founding has been an active part of the Manawatu Community. We believe that our skills can be put to good use in the community to create projects that help the sick, the young and those in need.
Here are a few of our community projects
School Holiday Programme
Twice a year the guild runs a school holiday programme to teach Children between the ages of 10 and 14 wood working skills. The children get a sense of the disciplines in wood working and come out with a completed project at the end of the session.
Pinocchio Toys for Children
During the year members of the guild will create toys for children in hospital for Christmas.
Wig Stands for Cancer Patients
The guild spends time making stands for wigs for those cancer patients who have a need. They make great presentation pieces to help with self esteem.
Hospital Cars for Children facing a traumatic time
We try to make comfort items out of wood for children who are going through something traumatic like surgery.
